Snap Kitchen Austin Review

Snap KitchenLast week I tried Snap Kitchen for the first time. Snap Kitchen has several locations in Austin and Houston in Texas. I was very impressed with their take-out restaurant and will be going back regularly for lunch.

I want to eat more salads especially for lunch. While I do a great job with my morning smoothies and a great job with dinner and the evening green juice, many days I go without lunch. What I like about Snap Kitchen is that it takes just a snap (ha!) to pick up a meal at their restaurant and know that it is a very healthy option.

I’ve posted a bunch of photos from my visit below. I purchased a salad and grilled chicken for $8 which I think is very reasonable considering the size of the salad. It was definitely on par with Elaine’s famous, “big salad”. The salad was amazingly fresh and Snap Kitchen has a very large selection of fruits, veggies and cheeses to add to your salad (I don’t eat cow cheese). I really enjoyed the beets and strawberries – I never tried strawberries in a salad before but it added a great pop of flavor. If I was to be nitpicky, the romaine was a bit bland and the chicken was a tad pinch overcooked but their lime marinade still had a good taste to the chicken.

Snap Kitchen has a large selection of pre-packaged takeaway meals and each meal is offered in small, medium and large sizes. I inquired about where they make the meals and was pleased to learn that all of the meals are made in-house. The meals include chicken, meat, and some vegetarian options. They also have a bunch of side-dishes packaged separately. Everything looked really tasty!

They have a selection of fresh, cold-pressed green juices although at $8 they are a bit too pricey for me to get on a regular basis. I’d suggest going to JuiceLand for your green juices. SnapKitchen also has a variety of snack bars including the popular, Austin-based Bearded Brothers energy bars.

The restaurant has a few tables to enjoy your meal and if you call ahead, they will bring your items to your car when you arrive (their locations can be difficult to find parking).
