If you are a regular LTF reader, you know I love my green smoothies and especially my weight loss green smoothie. There are tons of holiday gift guides out there and rather than create another, I thought I’d share a variety of ideas for the green smoothie lover, either yourself or a colleague/friend/loved one. Happy holidays to all and let’s make 2013 the most awesome year for all of us!
Blenders
In the top end of the blender market, there are two leaders: Vitamix and Blendtec. The war between the two is like iPhone vs. Android or PC vs. Mac. Here is my simple take…both blenders absolutely rock. I think the Vitamix wins for the pusher and the Blendtec wins for the design & ease of cleaning. If you aren’t ready to shell out the money for either of them, I totally understand. I started with a tiny travel blender! Here are some blender suggestions in a variety of prices:
- Blendtec Total Blender
- Vitamix TurboBlend 1732
- Hamilton Beach 50242N WaveMaker
- Hamilton Beach Travel Blender (this one is $15 and perfect for a secret santa swap)
Superfoods
I LOVE the superfoods that I add to my daily green smoothies. Here are a variety of superfoods worth checking out. If you use the iHerb option, you will save $5 on your first order or $10 if you spend $40 plus free ship over $20. These superfoods will increase the nutrition of your smoothies without changing the taste.
- Chia seeds (Amazon / iHerb)
- Flax seeds (cheapest superfood) (Amazon / iHerb)
- Acai powder (Amazon / iHerb)
- Maca powder (Amazon / iHerb)
- Maqui powder (Amazon)
- Miessence organic superfoods powders – this company makes a line of organic superfood powders – basically a ton of greens and other superfoods in one easy scoop – I’ve been using them the past month and am really impressed with the quality.
Travel Mugs and Tumblers
I drink my smoothies in a Starbucks plastic tumbler — sadly they don’t sell them anymore. Here are some great travel mugs and tumblers for your green smoothies. Remember that if the color of the smoothie bothers you, just get a travel mug you can’t see inside!
- Copco 24-Ounce Big Joe Thermal Travel Mug
- Thermos 16-Ounce Vacuum-Insulated Travel Tumbler, Stainless Steel
- Copco Sierra 24-Ounce Cold Tumbler, Purple – this one is $8 a perfect secret santa gift
- Aladdin Migo Aero 16-Ounce Insulated Water Tumbler with Straw, Purple – this one has a neat design
- 30 Oz Stainless Steel Cup – this one is perfect for me since i drink 33 oz a day!
Mason Jars
For some reason green smoothies seem to taste better in a mason jar. Best place to get them is at Walmart – Amazon also has a variety of Ball mason jars. The jars are great for freezing green juice as well.
Other gadgets and gizmos!
- Glass Dharma Decorative Dots Glass Straws – these straws make drinking green smoothies fun and are great for the environment!
- Pure Komachi 2 Series 8″ Chef’s Knife, Fuchsia- you need to cutup your fruit – this knife has top reviews and is only $10
- Chef’n Juicester Citrus Juicer and Reamer – perfect for juicing your oranges and lemons for your smoothies
- ZingAnything Citrus Zinger – so cool water bottle that holds a lemon or other citrus on the bottom to keep the water infused with the juice – I SO want one of these!
- Fitbit One – gotta throw a fitness product in there – the fitbit is hugely popular with my techie friends – it keeps track of your steps each day
