Registered for My First Group Cooking Class!

I know that to become who I want to be from an eating standpoint, I’ve got to keep trying new foods and recipes. I don’t mind eating the same basic chicken breast every night and could do it for years I am sure with no trouble, but it’s no fun – and since all the things I made with the two cooks were great, I am confident that trying more new dishes will really be great and help expand my culinary palette.

To that end, my sister pushed me to look again at the cooking classes offered at Whole Foods. I had looked a few times at their classes but nothing appealed to me – I think it was because I wasn’t ready. Whereas now I think my tastebuds are ready and my mind is wide open to try something new.

I’ve decided to make my first Whole Foods Cooking Class the, “Lunch Express: Easy Vegan” offering. This is a one-hour class during lunch time and I think it will be a great way for me to get my feet wet with this group-style cooking class.

I think this class purchase says everything about the last year in a sentence. A year ago I was eating mcdonalds 2x a day – now I am going to a VEGAN cooking class. This should tell you that you can achieve ANYTHING if you put your mind to it and work towards a goal.

Here are the class details: “Learn some quick and easy recipes you can use all year long, and we promise to have you in and out in one hour. Menu: Cucumber Salad with Thai Chiles and Lime; Garlic Tofu with Toasted Quinoa and Herbs, Charred Asparagus and Mango Hot Sauce; Pineapple Sorbet.”

Let’s see: I have never had a thai chile, tofu, quinoa or pineapple sorbet. I am also looking forward to giving asparagus another try. I will try to take photos and if they hand out recipes, I will share them on the blog with my comments on each.
