Stop The Comparisons! Be The Best You That You Can Be!

We all spend time comparing ourselves to others but all that does is hold us back from being the best me that I can be.

When I saw the above graphic, I immediately shared it on my Pinterest motivational graphics board. It’s so true – all of us compare ourselves to others but do we know what that person is really all about? I’d suggest we know nothing about the people we see in our travels but we still spend time comparing ourselves to them or what they have.

It’s easy to see the attractive woman or man and think they are perfect, but we generally know nothing about their struggles. It’s almost as if in our mind, we’ve decided to photoshop the person’s life so it appears as perfect as we assume it is.

I started to think about how the person you see that you think is perfect, could have been in your EXACT same shoes 2 years ago. Maybe that woman who has the perfect bikini body today was heavy and out-of-shape two years ago. Maybe the guy who appears like a great social player was dealing with huge bouts of depression a few years ago. Maybe a decade ago she had an eating disorder and was able to learn how to conquer it and create the amazing life you see today.

Growing up I remember driving around with my uncle and when a fancy Cadillac would roll by, he’d often say, “I bet that guy bought the car on credit.”

The one thing I know I have learned over the past year is that most everyone has struggles they are dealing with or have dealt with – some struggles show on the outside, some on the inside. And you know that people who are in perfect harmony today had to work for it, right?

So assuming I might be right, isn’t this a perfect time to get started on creating the best you that you can be? I know that I work on this every single day of my life now. Some days I might take huge leaps forward, other days I might just stay on the same step and enjoy the moment, but I SO badly want to see what life looks like when I finally get to the point where I am the best me that I can be. Enjoy your weekend everyone!
