How To Freeze Bananas

For the last month or so, I’ve been drinking a smoothie a day. Every smoothie I have made includes a banana. I generally stop at the supermarket or Whole Foods twice a week to pick up vegetables and fruits. I like my bananas just at the yellow stage and don’t seem to like them as much when they start to brown. For some reason, if I bring home the bananas when they are green or just beginning to yellow, two days later they are way brown.

I’ve read a bunch of blog posts about how easily it is to free bananas. So today I stopped at Central Market (it’s like Whole Foods) and bought a whole bunch of bananas to freeze. The method is super easy and even an idiot like me can do it.

Instructions for how to freeze bananas:

  1. buy bananas
  2. peel bananas
  3. put bananas into plastic bag whole or cut – I cut mine
  4. put bag in freezer

I like this idea because now I have bananas ready-to-go anytime and I think the frozen banana will make the smoothies even more smooth. I think the key will be to let the banana defrost for a minute before you put it in the blender.
