How Much is One Cup?

So now that I am eating healthier and really trying to make smoothies and other recipes with fruits and vegetables, I just have one question, “how much is one cup?” I get it, I have a pyrex measuring cup which is easy if you want to measure a cup of milk or juice. But how do you measure a cup of strawberries or spinach?

Well the fine people at the CDC put together a simple chart of exactly how much of a fruit or vegetable equals one cup (they also have measurements for a 1/2 cup). The website is called “Fruits and Veggies Matter” and is actually a pretty information-rich website.

Here are some examples of 1 cup:

  • 1 baked potato
  • 2 large plums
  • 2 large stalks of celery
  • 32 grapes
  • 8 large strawberries

Finally now I know that 8 strawberries equals a cup!
