The belt I am currently wearing I purchased in San Francisco in May 2011. You see I had been wearing a belt for several years and then the day before I left for San Francisco, the belt broke. I think the belt was trying to tell me something. The buckle popped off and went flying across my bedroom. As a large guy, I can’t just go to the mall to buy a new belt. I had to use my “backup travel belt” for the outbound travel to SF. I then rented a zipcar and headed to the store to buy a new belt. The belt I bought was the largest size belt I have ever purchased.
Since I began my journey, I’ve slowly moved up notches on the belt. But it was in February when I went full steam ahead on the transformation that the belt notches began to move. In February I added 2 more holes to the belt and blew through those. Yesterday I added 3 more holes to the belt and last night I moved to the first of three holes. I have moved 6 belt holes in total and three holes since March 1.
It’s easy to look at a scale but for some reason, moving a belt hole really makes this whole new me seem much more real. I can’t wait to have holes going the full length of the belt. (oh and I took the 3 sizes smaller jeans to the tailor yesterday – hot damn!)
