Hot House Cucumbers are Actually Seedless Cucumbers

I try to stay away from seeds and nuts and when I decided to eat vegetables, I knew that I once liked cucumbers. When I stopped at Central Market (it’s like Whole Foods), the produce clerk explained that there are seedless cucumbers. The more popular name is “hot house cucumber” and are also known as seedless cucumbers or english cucumbers. This version comes in a plastic wrapper and was 50 cents more than the regular variety.

The nice thing about these cucumbers is that you don’t have to peel or seed it. Apparently there are seeds but they are barely visible. Some say that this version has less flavor but I actually like it a lot – and the skin gives a pinch of crunch when you chew it.

It looks like cucumbers have nearly no calories and are a good source of Vitamin A and C. And they are green which is supposedly the mark of a good vegetable (sorry corn!).
